Message From the Principal

Dear Parents and School Community,

We are certainly getting to the end of the year with many events happening. The students are continuing to push through with concert practice, class activities and continuing to have lots of fun.

This week we began the farewells for the Year 6 students with the Graduation Mass and Year 6 Dinner Disco. On Wednesday, it was a beautiful occasion as we celebrated the Graduation Mass. Thank you to the Year 6 teachers, along with Miss Matrenza, for preparing the students who all read beautifully. Thank you, Fr Tai, for leading the mass and our altar servers Dean B, Arabelle DP and Aurelia A.

The Year 6 parents have been busy turning our Music/Art rooms into a VIP Dance Room. Thank you to the helpers for your efforts in helping our Year 6 students enjoy a dance and a meal with friends. Thank you, Miss Ryan, and Mr McGivern along with the Year 6 Parent Commitee for their work leading up to the event.

The classes have been practicing their performances for the concert. The audience will enjoy a number of songs to sing along to on Monday night along with the presentation of awards.

On Thursday morning, we invite the school community to join us for the PP Nativity Play in the undercover area. Thank you to Miss Jenkins, Miss Mavrick, Mrs Bourdon and Miss Christy for work practicing with the classes.

On Friday morning at 9am, we invite the school community to join us for Thanksgiving Mass at St Paul’s Church. Sr Catherine Warner, our second principal, will be attending the mass and assisting as we announce the student leaders for 2024.

2024 Teaching Staff

As we approach the end of the year, we farewell some of our teachers and welcome new staff for next year. Thank you Miss Matrenza, Mr B and Miss Tickner who will be leaving St Paul’s at the end of the year. We will also farewell one of the welcoming faces of the office, Mrs Sirr, and our amazing Canteen Manager, Mrs Chris Reed.

Advent

This Sunday marks the beginning of the Advent Season.

Advent Season is a very special time of year that sometimes gets lost in the bright lights of the Christmas season it precedes. The first day of Advent is the first day of a new Liturgical (or church) calendar and begins a four week period of preparation in anticipation of the nativity of Jesus at Christmas.

The Advent Season is all about reflecting on how we can prepare our hearts and homes for Christ’s birth in the world as it is today. It is a time for faith communities and families to remember, through prayer, reflections, special music, and good deeds what the true meaning of Jesus’ birth is.

End of Year Concert and Awards Night

The St Paul’s Primary School 2023 End of Year Concert & Presentation Night will be held at the Karratha Leisureplex on Monday 4th December, commencing at 6pm. Please be advised that students need to be at Karratha Leisureplex by 5.40pm. Students will meet their class teachers on Court 1 at the Karratha Leisureplex and assemble into their performance lines. Parents can the enter Court 2 to take their seats.

Once the students enter the gym, they will remain in their class group until the end of the concert. The exception to this will be the dismissal of Kindy and Pre- Primary students. An announcement will be made indicating the appropriate time for Kindy and Pre- Primary parents to collect their children. Kindy and Pre- Primary parents also have the option of leaving their child with their class teachers who will continue to supervise students until the conclusion of the event. All other students from Year 1 to Year 6 will remain seated in their class performance lines.

Dismissal instructions for all students will be announced at the end of the concert. Parents will need to collect their children from the respective class teachers at a designated space within the gym. Please do not ask to collect your child during the concert or presentation. As you can imagine there are a number of students involved and their safety is paramount. Your understanding and support in this matter is appreciated.

Students will also visit the Leisureplex on Monday 4th December, during the morning, to participate in a complete run through of their dance performances. Students will travel by bus to and from the Leisureplex under the supervision of their teachers.

Kindy Red students, who do not attend school on this day, are invited to join their Kindy Green peers at for a practice rehearsal, if available at 9.30am.

Helpers for the Concert and Award Night

To get the area ready for Monday’s concert, we are seeking assistance from our parents to help set up, and some helpers to pack away after.

To get the courts ready for the audience, we need to roll out the protective matting and lay out 150 chairs. Many hands make light work. For anyone available, we will be setting up at 7:15am on Monday morning. If you can come down to the Leisureplex, please let Mrs Riddell know. eleanor.riddell@cewa.edu.au

After the concert, parents do a fantastic job of stacking the chairs. If we could have 2 or 3 people to assist wheel the trolley loads of chairs that would be great!

St Paul's Food Drive

This is the last opportunity to get your donations in for our Christmas Food Drive. Mission Australia will be collecting mid week.

Thank you to our community for your generosity over the last month. The little donations all add up to make a festive and joyous Christmas for those in needs.
