Message From the Principal

Dear Families,

Term Two really took off this week with swimming lessons, a ballet incursion and ANZAC Day.

Our Year 3 to 6 students have taken the timetable disruptions in their stride, (as have their teachers!), being organised and prepared for all lessons. Today Miss Connell and Mrs Smith conducted time trials in preparation for our swimming carnival next week.

This week, Mrs Mulgrew helped the share the joy of dance with our students, by organising an incursion with the West Australian Ballet Company. Highly skilled teaching artists inspired our students to try something new and move out of their comfort zone. Even students who were reluctant to participate found themselves smiling, joining in, and trying their best.

On Thursday, it was an honour to represent St Paul’s alongside our Head Girl, Martha, at the ANZAC Dawn Service. We joined other local schools, businesses and community organisations, to take part in the Wreath Laying Ceremony.

Our floral wreath was a symbol of remembrance for the soldiers who have fought for our country in the past, and those who continue to serve today. When our Australian soldiers landed at Gallipoli on April 25th, 1915, they could not have predicted that over 60,000 men would lose their lives.  Today that number sits at 103, 021 Australian men and women who have given their lives in the hope that Australia remains a safe and free country. May their legacy, service, and sacrifices never be forgotten.

Warm regards,

Clare Bennett

Acting Principal

ANZAC Day Liturgy

Today, our whole school gathered for our Anzac Day Liturgy. Mr. McGiven, Miss Dawson, and the Year 3 Red students prepared readings that reflected the significance of Anzac Day and its importance in our nation’s history. Father Dominic guided us through moments of reflection, and representatives from each class presented the wreaths they created in art class under the guidance of Mrs. Barling, symbolising our collective reverence and appreciation. Together, we honoured the courageous sacrifices of our servicemen and women. Mrs. Beins’s trumpet performance for the Last Post marked the culmination of our ceremony.

Mrs Natalie Mahlook

Assistant Principal

First Eucharist

This term our Year Four students will be preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist. If your child is in either Year Five or Year Six and would like to receive this Sacrament, please contact Mrs Bennett via email, clare.bennett@cewa.edu.au

Friday Lunch Orders

Orders are now open on Quickcliq for next week for a special Friday lunch.

Subway is available for our Year 4 to 6 swimmers at the swimming carnival, and sushi for our Kindy to Year 3 students remaining at school.

Please note that orders close on Tuesday afternoon at 3pm.

West Australian Ballet Incursion

On Tuesday, the West Australian Ballet company visited St Paul’s to run an incursion with our students in Years One to Three. Students were able to explore the concepts of ballet dancing, participating in warm up activities and learning key skills. This incursion will also be provided to the Year Four to Six classes over the next two Fridays. A big thank you to Mrs Mulgrew and Mrs Beins for coordinating this fun incursion.

Swimming Carnival

Our annual school swimming carnival will be held next Friday, May 3rd at the Karratha Leisureplex.  Miss Connell has been busily preparing for this event and we thank her very much for her efforts and organisation. A big thank you also to our parents who have volunteered to help out during the carnival.

Please note that as this event occurs during school time, students must remain in their faction bays and under teacher supervision for the duration of the carnival.  Parents are permitted to visit their children during the scheduled lunch break of 11 – 11:30am. Students are allowed to be signed out by a parent after the presentations, if you wish to take them home directly from the Leisureplex. A bus will be provided for any students returning to school.
