Message From the Principal

Dear Families,

We were treated to an entertaining and informative performance from the Year 5 classes at assembly. Well done to the students for their creativity and polished performance. Thank you to Mrs Gallagher and Miss Boness for helping the students prepare. Congratulations to the merit award winners from the classes. We also had merit awards from our specialist classes and the MJR Award. Congratulations to Dylan S who was recognised for demonstrating the spirit of Jesus in the way he demonstrates kindness and helps his peers. These are things we can all aim to do to help and support each in our community.

On Wednesday evening, our Confirmation candidates and families attended the Parent Information Evening. This weekend, they have their commitment mass as they prepare to celebrate the Sacrament next term. Please keep these students in your thoughts and prayers.

We invite the school community to join us at mass on Friday at 9am to celebrate our patron saint, St Peter and St Paul’s Feast Day.

A longer term than usual, we are looking forward to a big last week at school with learning and some fun class activities to finish the term.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Ryan Powles

Principal

Make Jesus Real Award

Congratulations to Dylan Shah for receiving our Make Jesus Real Award!

Whether in the classroom or on the soccer field, Dylan consistently displays our MJR values of kindness and respect. He is always the first to assist and support others. Dylans positive attitude is contagious, and we thank him for bringing the Spirit of Jesus to our school.

Year Five Assembly

This morning our Year Five classes presented an informative assembly about marine conservation. Well done to all students who researched and created their own items to present. Thank you to Miss Boness, Mrs Gallagher, Mrs Byrne and Mrs Bembridge for harnessing the passion of students.

Congratulations to all of our merit award winners! Today we our specialist teachers also presented awards to those students who consistently demonstrate skill and dedication in Art, Music, Drama, Auslan and Physical Education.

Sacrament Of Confirmation

Our Year Six students are getting ready to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

When children are Confirmed, they are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Their Baptismal promises are renewed, and their spirit is strengthened to practice their Catholic faith in all aspects of their lives.

If you would like your child to receive this sacrament, please complete an enrolment form and pay the administration fee of $35 via QuickCliq.

If you have any queries or questions, please contact Mrs Bennett via email – clare.bennett@cewa.edu.au

Student Absences

At St Paul’s Primary School, we recognise and are sympathetic to the fact that legitimate illness and family emergencies are valid reasons for your child not attending school.

However, as partners with you in the education of your child, it is important to point out that reduced attendance and consistent late arrivals, have a large impact on academic learning.

In order to access the full curriculum, and give your child the best chance of success, Catholic Education WA recommends the rate of 90% – 100% as ‘Regular Attendance’.

When attendance falls below this level it indicates a student may be at risk of not reaching their full potential. The chart below gives a breakdown of the amount of time missed in a year, and if maintained, how it impacts on the future education of your child.

Term Three Important Dates

Next week a copy of the Parent Calendar for Term Three will be included in the newsletter, with a hard copy being sent home at the beginning of next term.

In the meantime, please take not of the following important dates.

ICAS Competitions

We know our students are amazing, so we’re giving them the opportunity to showcase and celebrate their talents in the world-renowned ICAS competitions this year.

What is ICAS?
ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge their higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee, and Digital Technologies.

Every student who participates is celebrated and recognised with a printed certificate in each subject area, and an online results report to track development each year. Top performers are eligible for one of the highly coveted ICAS medals.
